Day 178 of the challenge! The Box is...very confusing and all over the place. Great chilly setup though!
Liked:
- Like I mentioned, love the setup.
- The cast was pretty dope.
- Legit sense of mystery. Didn't know where it was going.
- Loved the old school, Twilight Zone vibe the film managed to carry throughout. Makes sense when you realize it's based on "Button Button", a short story by Richard Matheson... and an old episode of the 80's version of The Twilight Zone.
- Likable characters.
- Great "what would you do" conversation starter.
Didn't like:
- Didn't like where it ended up going (haha). There was no clear direction. Things just happen out of nowhere without a natural progression.
- Seemed to be trying to hard to explain everything that's happening, and in the process killed the mystery with several convoluted left turns in the plot.
- I usually like it when more outlandish sci-fi elements are suddenly introduced into a good thriller or horror story (10 Cloverfield Lane for example did it beautifully), but The Box doesn't quiet know how to handle it.
