Night of the Comet (1984) - 365 Movie Challenge Day 281

Day 281 of the challenge! Another list title bites the dust with the super campy and light Night of the Comet!

Night of the Comet was tamer than I anticipated. Low-key, I think I might have been expecting something closer to Night of the Creeps, which embraces the apocalyptic horror/scifi/comedy shtick a lot more than Comet did.

That’s not to say Comet didn’t have it’s moments. The zombies (the few that showed up) were pretty gnarly in design and concept (and funny in their own right), and the thought of being reduced to dust in the blink of an eye is horrifying! The scientist subplot was camp greatness too! My main issue is that the humor just didn’t gel with me. Most of the jokes centered around the girl’s lack of boyfriends and such, and I get that. That’s the joke, and it is funny. So while most of these first world, valley girl problems did make me chuckle , I just didn’t find it dark enough.
