Day 280 of the challenge! In case you’re late to the party like I am, Assault on Precinct 13 is BADASS!

One of John Carpenter’s earliest films, Assault on Precinct 13 is a lean and mean urban survival movie. It’s slow to start, but once all the exposition is out of the way and all the players are where they need to be, the film is relentless.

It’s almost like a gang warfare version of Night of the Living Dead, right down to it’s black male protagonist. A scene with gang members trying to claw their way into the building through any window or opening they can find is straight up taken from Living Dead. On the flip side, if you’re looking for a complex, character driven plot, Assault on Precinct 13 probably isn’t your cup of tea. But I loved it, and I’m sure most will too.
