Day 278 of the challenge! Watch I Am Not a Serial Killer the next time you want a spooky movie night! I can’t recommend it enough! Such a great gem of a movie!
So talk about subverting expectations man. Serial Killer starts off making you think you’re in for an interesting character study before…I really shouldn’t get into details. This is one of those horror films that works best knowing as little as possible. I don’t even want to compare it to other similar movies.
I will say, however, that there are plenty of slow burning chills to be had, all with that great, old school 80s horror feel and aesthetic everybody loves nowadays, but without necessarily feeling like a throwback. Christopher Lloyd is phenomenal (giving it his all in what probably is my new favorite Lloyd performance, sorry Doc Brown), grounding the film in a strong, emotionally moving context. The finale in particular gave me a very visceral reaction.
Enough! Go watch it! Love it!
