Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017) - 365 Movie Challenge Day 217

Day 217 of the challenge! Made it a Pooh Bear weekend! Goodbye Christopher Robin is another great (and dark) biopic about the family behind the silly old bear.

Liked:

  • Great look at the consequences of creating a cultural phenomenon. For every action there's an equal and opposite reaction? That the saying? Well, it's kind of like that.

  • As is with most biopics, the acting, set design, wardrobe, etc was all beautifully done.

  • Reminds you that the most beautiful and wonderful of things can come from a place of hurt and pain. True healing comes from creativity.

Didn't like:

  • The story glossed over some details I would have liked elaborated on more. For example, we see the negative impact of Christopher Robin's sudden fame as a child, but completely gloss over the impact on his teenage years. We get a short montage and two of the film's most compelling scenes. More of that (and maybe cutting a little away from the childhood years) would have elevated the film for me.
