Christopher Robin (2018) - 365 Movie Challenge Day 216

Day 216 of the challenge! Christopher Robin isn't the most original story, but my god does it make you nice and warm on the inside. Such a melancholic, but funny movie!

Liked:

  • Someone better give Jim Cummings an Oscar, because this is the most nuanced and real the silly old bear has ever sounded! His performance is easily the strongest aspect of this movie. Not to mention that he voices Tigger too!

  • The whole film is beautifully made. The effects used to bring the stuffed animals to life are amazingly done, the hauntingly beautiful way the Hundred Acre Wood is shot is gorgeous and wonderful to look at, etc.

  • Great moments of visual storytelling. Character actions working along side the great visuals I mentioned above convey a lot about what's going on inside Christopher Robin's head.

  • The rest of cast (both actors/ voice actors alike) all give great performances.

  • Good reminder for the watching adults to slow down and taste the honey every now and again (even if that message is too often too on the nose).

Didn't like:

  • Like mentioned, it's not the most original story. You can see where things are going from miles away, and even predict several lines of dialogue in certain spots. Not at all noticeable for the younger kids in the crowd, but might be a little annoying for the adults.
