Day 126 of the challenge! Ghost Stories is a new horror classic destined for cult status! Can you tell I loved it? It's amazing! Ghost Stories is a well acted throwback to classic anthology horror flicks that doesn't forget to mix in some fun with all the scares, which there are plenty of. This film has some incredibly well placed jump scares with an excellent sound mix and some gnarly imagery that stays with you long after the movie's over. The sound work in particular is on point here. Found myself looking over my shoulder a few times in the theater thinking the sound I heard was somewhere behind me.
While Ghost Stories embraces it's old school inspirations, it also adds a sick (and darkly funny) twist to some of the horror tropes it plays with (with some working better than others if I'm honest). Ghost Stories also begs to be watched multiple times. You'll want to go back to try and piece together as many of the cryptic, scattered clues as possible for the big reveal at the end. It's not perfect, but it works on too many levels not to be a great watch. Recommend it for the next rainy night in.
