Day 20 of the challenge! A good friend of mine recommended The Dressmaker to me a while back. I went in not knowing anything about this film and have to say, it is NOT at all all what I expected. I wasn't prepared for such a bizarre and hilarious movie that jived so easily with my dark sense of humor. Like a lot of the movies I've watched so far, it's not everyone's cup of tea.
So right off the bat, I don't know whether The Dressmaker is supposed to be a comedy or drama. Good thing? Bad thing? Take it as you will. There are plenty of heavy and melodramatic moments for sure, but I couldn't help but laugh at most of the wacky situations and character moments throughout.
Kate Winslet (love her!) steals the show, and any flick with Hugo Weaving is worth at least one watch. There's even a Hemsworth in here for those of you that are into that. I totally recommend The Dressmaker for the great performances and anyone looking for a few dark, offbeat laughs.
