Day 92 of the challenge! Bridge of Spies is a great Cold War thriller. Since I'm still riding the Ready Player One high from this past weekend, I thought I'd start catching up on some of the past Spielberg flick's I've missed or haven't seen in their entirety. Bridge of Spies was a great start. Spielberg has an amazing knack at capturing the zeitgeist of whatever period his film is set in. You get a sense that this is the world as it is, and not a recreation in a studio somewhere. Little details like grime on the streets of Berlin or the burnt out light bulbs from the old era flash cameras add a whole other dimension. Mix in some powerful cinematography and Tom Hanks (who is phenomenal) and you get an intensely complex nail biter of a movie that manages to keep your attention throughout. Watch it!
