Birdboy: The Forgotten Children (2017) - 365 Movie Challenge Day 38

Day 38 of the challenge! Birdboy: The Forgotten Children is one of the most beautiful and psychedelic films I have ever seen. Don't let the animation and cute animal characters fool you; Birdboy is an incredibly dark and mature film. Not for the kiddos or faint of heart. Part teenage coming of age and part apocalyptic horror, Birdboy is all amazing.

I don't know how to even start with this one. There is so much to unpack with Birdboy. Other the the obviously beautiful and unique art style, this film has a story packed with a plethora of themes, from our relationship with the environment as a society to some truly terrifying looks at mental illnesses and drug addiction that are personified outwardly as demons. Literal demons. Telling you, not for the kids. But it's not all so bleak. There are some incredibly funny moments sprinkled in to keep you from going over the edge.

I can go on and on about how wonderful (and bleak) Birdboy is, but I feel it's best to just watch this one (either in it's native Spanish or the English dub), and experience it for yourself.

Day 38 out, 330 to go....
