Day 37 of the challenge! I was so happy to finally get to Atomic Blonde after missing it in theaters. Super stylish aesthetics, great camera work and editing, and some awesome fight scenes made this an incredibly fun and beautiful action flick.
The use of color in this film is amazing. The neon/grunge aesthetics contrasts so beautifully with the cool and under-saturated world of the film. Mix all that in with some slick camera work and a twist of 80's atmosphere (a huge plus for me) and you end up with something unique and beautiful to watch. The score is pretty great too!
I love how stylish, plot heavy, character driven action films like Atomic Blonde and John Wick are becoming more of a recurrence. They have plenty of star-power and mainstream appeal while also catering to those that like their films with a bit of an "avant garde" flavor to them. So far, they're very unique films that embrace a different type of energy. I can't get enough of them. Simply put, if you loved John Wick, you'll love Atomic Blonde, and if you haven't seen John Wick, stop reading this and go watch it right now, then watch Atomic Blonde!
