Day 32 of the challenge! Watched The Post to take another Oscar nomination off the list. Is it good? Spielberg. Tom Hanks. Meryl Streep. Bob Odenkirk. Of course it's not good. It's fantastic! Only Spielberg could make a great political thriller about newspapers. Plus (for better or worse), the film is pretty topical. I loved it, another good recommendation I'd say!
Eerily, the driving conflict in the film involves The President of the United States trying to keep newspaper outlets (specifically The New York Times and later The Washington Post) from publishing leaked truths about the government. Sound familiar?
On top of that, it's the final decision of the first female newspaper publisher that makes the biggest difference in this film. Kind of insane how history seems to be repeating itself in many ways. I should point out the film takes place in 1971, not 2018....
