Day 75 of the challenge! You'll think The Monster Project is either an incredibly fun and cheesy found-footage horror flick, or a terrible and cheesy found-footage horror flick. Fortunately, I had a blast watching it! Simple premise: A group of filmmakers want to make a documentary about "real monsters", only to end up locking themselves into a house with three, very real and very dangerous monsters. Simple, but effectively pulled off! I'd also like to point out the throwback to some classic Hollywood monsters being shown here. No mistake that the monsters include a vampire, skin walker (Native American shapeshifter, werewolf in this case), and a demon.
The Monster Project never lets up on the energy once it gets rolling. We escape one of the three creatures only to end up in the clutches of another, all ending in a very out of nowhere but insane twist that brings the whole plot together (even if it brings up a lot more questions). On the technical side, there are some odd editing choices that bothered me a bit. A lot of weird and fake looking glitches in the footage and some weird CG that take away from the already awesome make-up effects. Regardless, I'd recommend it if you're still into the found-footage game!
