Day 74 of the challenge! Continued my trip back in film time with 13 Ghosts. Ooof. Like House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts is tame and simple in it's approach. Unlike House however, 13 Ghosts doesn't work on almost any front. It has the same b-movie charm, but William Castle's focus on the "Illusion-O" gimmick over the story or atmosphere (like he so excellently pulled off in House), completely robbed the film of any tension or merit, even for an older horror movie. I was hoping this would be better than the weird 2001 remake with Tony Shalhoub, but at least that one has some legitimate scares...move along.
