Day 351 of the challenge! The incredibly touching and sensitive Stranger Than Fiction today!
Pretty sure the first movie that comes to mind when you hear the name Will Ferrell is either Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy or Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (or some other raunchy comedy that’s sure to be on your guilty pleasure list).
Ferrell has a type of character for sure, but like Jim Carrey in The Truman Show or Adam Sandler in Spanglish (and Funny People hehe), he proved he’s capable of more than clowning around with Stranger Than Fiction. I’m just going to assume that all these supposedly bad, over the top comedic actors are actually nuanced performers capable of delivering some truly moving moments… when they’re in the mood. Did I mention Seth Rogen in both Steve Jobs and also Funny People? There’s a trend here!
Stranger Than Fiction is full of whimsical depth, and has one of the most original premises I’ve seen in a while (something to say after you’ve watched 350 other movies before it). Funny in it’s own subdued way, Stranger Than Fiction reminds you to stop every now and again and appreciate all the little things we take for granted in our lives, because no matter how small or inconsequential, they might be the thing that keeps us going. Like a watch.
