Day 284 of the challenge! Stepfather II is just as campy as the first, but has none of it’s edge.
Terry O'Quinn sells it again with his performance, making it the only aspect of the film that really makes it worth the watch. Dude goes from being the friendliest guy you’ll ever meet, to complete psychopath in the blink of an eye. He’s fantastic, and elevates what’s essentially a white bread remake of the first movie. The cleverness, chills, and tension is all gone. The biggest letdown though has to be how often I had to suspend my disbelief in this one. The grounded nature of the first film is what made it so great! Again, worth a watch for O'Quinn, and O'Quinn alone.
