Day 82 of the challenge! Pacific Rim Uprising fails to live up to the original Pacific Rim in every way. The original was a flawed but super fun "robots vs monsters" flick that not only made my inner child happy, but also established a stylish and unique world worth spending more time in. Pacific Rim Uprising is none of that. At all. I wanted to enjoy this movie so badly, but the cheesy charm is all gone, replaced by generic "Transformers" type mayhem and humor. But somehow worse. It feels like a mishmash of at least 5 other, much better movies. There is little to no logic in the plot, and don't even get me started on the characters (or what they do to the returning characters). Just rewatch the original. Move along.
