Day 364 of the challenge! Can’t tell you why, but watch One Cut of the Dead ASAP! One of the year’s best, and NOT AT ALL what you think it is!

I am so glad this fun gem of a film blipped on my radar, especially right before the end of the year! I hesitate to call One Cut of the Dead a zombie movie (again, can’t explain why without ruining it), but I absolutely loved every single moment of it, despite my initial confusion in the first 30 or so minutes. Believe me, every moment of awkward cringe or ugly camera work serves a greater overall purpose.

If you can make it past all that (please do, it only works if you do), you’ll see that One Cut of the Dead is actually a brilliant and hilarious satire, one I’d go as far and put up there with The Death of Stalin and Vice. It has all the heart, humor, and affection you could want, and at it’s core, One Cut of the Dead is a story of a people coming together to accomplish something. Yay teamwork!

Admittedly, I might be a bit biased here (if you know me and watch it, you’ll understand), but I feel One Cut of the Dead is one “zombie” movie anyone can enjoy, despite the weirdly racist errors on the subtitles on Amazon’s Prime Video…they should really look into that.
