I stopped following the Insidious franchise after part 2. They're not bad per se, but they're not my cup of tea. Too many cheap jump scares and oddness that doesn't vibe with me. But I can see why people to like them. So with Insidious: The Last Key, out now, I thought I'd finally catch up with Insidious: Chapter 3. Meh.
Again, I don't think these movies are bad. They have some legitimate moments and ideas that make my skin crawl (just look at that gnarly cinemagraph!), but the films always tend to devolve to generic horror conventions while having odd...physics(??) in the Further scenes. This one had franchise heroine Elise tackling the demon head on all Han Solo style, but then she uses some weird Further power to morph a hole in the ground beneath the demon's feet. Just odd and inconsistent for me. I also can't get behind what I call "The CW" teenagers most pg-13 horror films feature. Not good, but not bad. Definitely made for a cool cinemagraph!
Day 5 out, 360 to go....
