Honeymoon (2014) - 365 Movie Challenge Day 95

Day 95 of the challenge! I tried to switch things up a bit with a UFO/Alien abduction flick and ended up finding Honeymoon, a cabin in the woods sci-fi/horror/romance that felt more like a possession movie than an alien one. Still enjoyed it though! The whole movie is about newlywed anxiety, and Honeymoon did a great job at giving us that in a nice horror move shaped package. Unfortunately, Honeymoon spends an expressive amount of screen time building up the characters and their relationship, ultimately ending in a final (and slightly jarring) climax that wasn't worth the payoff, as creepy and well shot as it was.

What made Honeymoon worth it though, was what happened after the movie ended and I tried to get to bed. My room suddenly felt much darker than usual. Every random settling sound or random dog bark made me jump, and the person-shaped coat hanger in the corner of my room suddenly felt much more menacing. I was completely unnerved, and couldn't stop thinking about the movie. Certain details or moments that I didn't think were important suddenly clicked into place and made sense. I just had to let the film sneak under my skin and attack me when I let my guard down. Any movie that can do that to me is totally worth a recommendation. I might have also just been in a weird mood, so who knows. Still recommend it!
