Day 272 of the challenge! Oh, hi Hardcore Henry (manly pew pew). How’s your sex life?”

The camera work and editing fluctuate often from unbelievable to unwatchable. But when it’s good, it is GOOD! A musical section of the film (yes musical, you read that right) is especially mind boggling when you try and breakdown how they would shoot/edit something like that.
Sharlto Copley is pretty fun to watch ham it up as multiple characters.

Many of the action sequences were obviously designed with well known FPS video game objectives and missions in mind. No doubt neat to see, but also no where near as interesting to watch when you’re not the one controlling the player. I mean character. No wait, this movie has no real characters..Huh…

Congratulations to Hardcore Henry on being the first found footage style (shot like a First Person Shooter, but it basically feels like found footage flick) to make me nauseous. Cloverfield, The Blair Witch Project, Grave Encounters, etc. All incredibly shaky found footage movies I survived without a problem. So I get it now. Gross.
So I’m pretty sure writer/director Ilya Naishuller just ripped off the plot from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but made it MUCH LESS interesting, and without any of the interesting thematic elements. Like, none of them. At all. We just move from one boss fight to the next. Pew pew! Poor man’s cyberpunk.
Why did the main bad guy/final boss look and sound like Tommy Wiseau? Interesting choice.
Hypermasculine Henry is hypermasucline, and that much more annoying for it.
Pew Pew
“What a movie Henry.”
