Day 48 of the challenge! Decided to have a Netflix/Stephen King double feature this weekend, starting with Gerald's Game. I haven't read the book, and I regret that deeply because Gerald's Game was so much more than I expected. Pennywise had some competition this past year!
Gerald's Game is a mostly a bottle movie; as in most of the film takes place in one location and is dominated by dialogue. In this case, it's Carla Gugino handcuffed to a bed after some "sexy time" with her husband goes incredibly wrong. Since bottle episodes/films rely mostly on dialogue and performances, it's important that the script and actors are up to par. Good news! Carla Gugino has plenty to work with here! She delivers an amazing, anxiety inducing performance as her character slowly loses her mind.
Gerald's Game is creepy, slickly edited and shot, and full of other scary surprises that I rather not spoil. Go watch and enjoy!
