Frank (2014) - 365 Movie Challenge Day 55

Day 55 of the challenge! Like In a World..., I've been meaning to get to Frank for a long time. It seemed like the exact kind of quirky indie comedy I love. And like most of those quirky indie comedies, I was caught off guard by how heartfelt and stirring it turned out to be. At first glance, Frank is a movie about outsider musicians playing weird music, but it has so much more to offer. At it's core, Frank is about about creative insecurities, life dreams, pain, and human connection.

Don't get me wrong, Frank is still foremost  a comedy. The absurdity of the situations that play out as the film unravels are hilarious! It's just a hilarity with a purpose behind it. That also isn't to say there aren't plenty of gut-punching moments to keep you on your toes. What's most surprising about Frank (a movie where Michael Fassbender wears an over-sized puppet head for the majority of the film), is that it's based on a true person. Look up Chris Sievey if you get a chance, it's a pretty interesting story.

Day 55 out, 313 to go....
