Day 241 of the challenge! Emelie has some amazing performances and great creep factor going for it.
Liked:
- Can honestly say Emelie has some of the best child acting I've ever seen. Almost felt like home movies at some points for me. Sarah Bolger also nails it as the titular Emelie, adding an incredible layer of nuance that the script simply didn't have. Good acting and directing can overcome any basic script apparently!
Didn't Like
- Emelie is full of dark and twisted moments that work great in the moment, but don't make much sense once the shock wears off. I would hope that there's a deeper meaning to the psychological thrills/horror besides just shock value.
- The journey is much better than the destination. The story fizzles out at the end.
