Day 17 of the challenge! Another Netflix pick, The Babysitter is one of those incredibly immature 80s slasher throwbacks that's not at all serious...and all the better for it (if that's your cup of tea).
I'm a sucker for 80s movies, and an even bigger sucker for 80's horror flicks. The Babysitter (right down to it's title), would have fit right in with the decade. Hot babysitter? Check. Nerd needing to learn how to stand up for himself? Check. Crazy satanic cult? Check. Over the top violence? Check! I apprecaite how the movie takes some of the expectations 80s horror junkies might have and play with them to end up with a few small surprising moments. Had fun watching it.
Is it a good movie? No, not at all. Is it fun and kind of clever? I'd say so, but I also know this movie is not for everyone. People wanting a little more straightforwardness from their horror should probably skip it.
