Day 68 of the challenge! Picked A24's The Monster for today! I enjoyed it overall but felt that it wasn’t up to the usual A24 standard that I’m used to. That’s not to say The Monster isn’t a good watch. It’s beautifully shot and colored, and I ADORE the old school monster effects used here. Zoe Kazan and Ella Ballentine also give excellent performances that really push the film up a notch. My slight disappointment comes mainly from it not being as scary as I’d hoped it would be and the motherhood themes not aligning as well with the monster plot as I think they were meant to. Still recommend it! Watch it!
