Day 304 of the challenge! I dig what’s under the hood, but Romero’s The Crazies is too much of a grind to recommend.
Vietnam War hysteria! Citizens losing trust in the government and the American way! In other words, The Crazies is basically Night of the Living Dead again, only it swaps out the “ghouls” for the United States Government. There’s something to be said about the rebellious visuals peppered throughout the film, but without the historical context The Crazies just doesn’t work. It is very much a relic of it’s time, and a poorly made one at that. Maybe it’s time to give the remake a chance?
