Day 172 of the challenge! Sun Choke is a face kick of slow burning anxiety. I can't stress enough how anxious this one made me during it's short running time. Sun Choke is told from the perspective of it's deranged (mentally ill?) and completely unreliable protagonist Janine (played amazingly by Sarah Hagan). Because of the character's condition, we have no idea what's real and what isn't half the time. Is she being cared for or being held hostage by her ominous keeper? Is she actually sick, or a straight up sociopath? There's no way to know thanks to the trippy and vague way Janine's hyper violent (and sexual) episodes are portrayed. People looking for straight answers will not be happy! If all the anxiety wasn't bad (or good) enough, Sun Choke's focus on it's character's psyche helps it produce some truly tragic and hard to watch moments that leave you feeling defeated. Like mentioned, there are periods of hyper violence and sexuality that would make the Game of Thrones producers go "whoa", so be ready for that if you plan on watching it with a group. This film stuck around me with for awhile after I finsihed watching it, so proceed with caution if you don't like being haunted.
