Day 58 of the challenge! Finally got around to Chris Nolan's Memento. Anyone that knows me knows that I'm not Nolan's biggest fan. That being said, I loved Memento (maybe a bit over hyped over the years), but there is no denying the mastery of the story structure at play here.
This is Nolan in his best element I believe. I much prefer his earlier psychological thriller work over his current run of epic scope films (as beautiful as they look and sound). Memento, Insomnia, and even The Prestige (well, most of The Prestige anyway), are excellent thrillers that keep you guessing about what exactly is going on. I feel he lost that touch in his post Inception work in favor of grand scale environments. Unpopular opinion to most, but I stand by it. Next time Nolan decides to make a smaller scale thriller, believe that I'll be the first one in line for my ticket!
