Day 29 of the challenge! Like a lot of the movies I watched this month, I missed Lady Bird in it's initial run in theaters. Thankfully it came back for award season, and I'm so glad it did. Lady Bird is a great and emotional coming of age flick about the unique relationships between mothers and daughters, plus it's pretty funny! I guess I'm also on a quest to watch all the Oscar nominations now. Challenge within a challenge!
Lady Bird is yet another future classic from A24 (they can do no wrong!). It's an amazingly balance between an awkward, coming of age teen comedy and a harsh, bittersweet family drama that has a lot to say about both topics. Can you tell that I really enjoyed it?
There is a lot to unpack here emotionally (especially for women, just ask my sister...), but I feel anyone can find something to enjoy in Lady Bird, especially if you're a fan of nostalgia and thinking back to your teenage years. Not bad for Greta Gerwig's directorial debut. 2017 was a good year for that (looking at you Jordan Peele!).
Day 29 out, 339 to go....
