Bitch (2017) - 365 Movie Challenge Day 88

Day 88 of the challenge! Bitch is straight up weird, but in an interesting way. Bitch was marketed as a dark comedy about an incredibly stressed out (putting it lightly) house wife who has a mental break and "turns" into a dog. While it did make me laugh a few time, most of the films feels like a drama, despite it's over the top premise and plot. While I appreciate what Bitch was trying to say, I can't help but feel the film could have benefited from a little more backstory and focus on it's main character, since most of the film ends up focusing on her husband dealing (and learning a lesson) with the aftermath. There's also a ruthless satirical edge that takes some of the fun out of the film, hence feeling like a drama for extended periods. Bitch's brutal portrayal of mental illness isn't romanticized like a lot of movies tend to do, so that's a plus (even if it does walk the line). Recommend it if you're into super indie and unapologetic flicks.
